New Site

Tristan Taormino has put up a new message board on her new site for her new book. Lots of new things :-) Look into it.

Update - 5/14/08

We're looking to hold a discussion group here in Milwaukee on the 2nd of June. It will be at the Anodyne Coffee shop on the south side of town at 7:00pm. Please bring a few bucks for coffee and a will to discuss. We're looking to change this venue to the local A Woman's Touch store; I just haven't contacted the woman about it yet. Plus it's not free, so that would be an issue.

I have a few topics in mind to talk about at our first meeting (don't worry, no silly ice-breakers). I think it'll be good to truly start building our Milwaukee community. It needs to happen.

Look both ways before you cross the street

We grow up hearing from our parents and grandparents (or other guardians) things like, "look both ways before you cross the street", "wear your helmet when you ride your bike", "don't talk to strangers", "always wash your hands". They're good advice to keep yourself safe - away from various harms and ailments. It's part of that whole paternal/maternal instinct or something.

The new kid in town

Ok, so she's not entirely new, but she's fairly so. Anna at Open Fidelity has a lot of interesting things to say about non-monogamy. She does make a distinction between what she is terming open fidelity and polyamory. I suppose it's a similar distinction between, say, slipstream and magic realism. (That's my literary reference for the month; both of those are similar types of fiction - look them up; you'll learn something).

Been doin' some browsin'

A friend of mine and I had a good chuckle the other night about some humorous news: after having been poly for quite some time, her parents sent her links to the Poly Web Ring (among other sites) because apparently they've been poly for a while, too. We chuckled; then we kind of raised eyebrows at the fact that her parents are in their 40s, and sometimes we just don't want to think about those kinds of things.
